Solutions to an underwhelming SEZ programme

Speaking on Power FM, CDE executive director, Ann Bernstein, shared insight on how the private sector could turbocharge South Africa’s Special Economic Zones (SEZ’s). She says “Up until now the state has been dominant in South Africa’s twelve SEZ’s. We should follow the trend around the world of successful SEZ’s which have the private sector running these zones and attracting bigger investments, so that they can become a big contributor to the economy”. This interview comes after the release of CDE’s latest report, ACTION NINE: Use the private sector to turbocharge the SEZ programme.
