CDE executive director, Ann Bernstein, spoke on Business Day TV to discuss how South African can transform its Special Economic Zones to become a major catalyst to the country’s economic growth. Bernstein proposes that, “we should turn Coega as an experimental zone where we test out our capacity for low skill manufacturing that attracts foreign investment, and provide opportunity for growth.” This interview comes after the release of CDE’s latest report, ACTION NINE: Use the private sector to turbocharge the SEZ programme.
