CDE Executive Director Ann Bernstein appeared on eNCA’s evening programme to discuss the recent launch of Phase Two of Operation Vulindlela by the President. She described the initiative as “overall a positive step,” but noted that “there is still much work to be done on Phase One.” Commenting on Phase Two, she welcomed the focus on addressing spatial inequalities in South African cities. However, she cautioned that Operation Vulindlela risks becoming too public-facing, potentially undermining its effectiveness as a behind-the-scenes reform initiative.
