Speaking on eNCA’s SA Tonight, CDE executive director Ann Bernstein warned that the government’s proposed R100 billion Transformation Fund could undermine true transformation. She argued that “it is unlikely that the government will raise that kind of money voluntarily,” and added, “it will undermine existing efforts to promote economic inclusion and harm black-owned firms involved in current supplier development value chains.” Her remarks follow CDE’s formal submission raising concerns about the proposed fund.
