LSE in conversation with Ann Bernstein on South Africa’s growth, employment, reform, and leadership

CDE’s executive director Ann Bernstein spoke at a public event in London, hosted by the London School of Economics. The discussion explored South Africa’s political and economic future following the formation of the Government of National Unity in July 2024. It considered the pace of reform, the continued challenges posed by corruption, unemployment and institutional weakness, and the mounting crisis in Johannesburg, where political instability, financial mismanagement and declining service delivery have raised concerns about the future of South Africa’s largest city.
