• On Power FM’s Power Business show, Ann Bernstein, executive director of the Centre for Development and Enterprise, stressed the need for job-rich economic growth in South Africa. Citing jobs as ‘a beginning’ and a source of dignity for people, Bernstein lambasted the jobs plan in the governing party’s manifesto, calling it a “stop-gap” in the face of a “catastrophic” employment situation. Bernstein concludes, “We can do it, but we just need to give people confidence”.
